Grading & Pulverizing
Grading
Tucson Asphalt
understands that a long lasting structural pavement section is dependent
on good line and grade, quality base materials and an overall design that
will support the type of traffic it is intended
to accommodate. Tucson Asphalt understands the importance of
Grading and knows how to build pavement sections that last.
Subbase
Typically local soils which vary greatly in their ability to support a load
must determine the required thickness of the overlaying layers.
Compaction is
usually accomplished through vibration and static weigh of rollers over
newly placed asphalt to condense the mixture to a minimum practical volume,
to mold it within form shapes and around embedded parts and reinforcement,
and to eliminate voids other than design entrained air.
Pulverizing
Asphalt Pulverizing is the process of breaking up the existing pavement and
blending it in to the existing base. The new base is re-compacted, graded
and made ready for paving. Pulverizing is a very cost effective way to
reconstruct your existing pavement. This process eliminates excavation, haul
off and landfill costs associated with removing your existing asphalt.
Pulverizing adds larger aggregate and structure to the base, thereby giving
you a stronger base than what had existed previously.
